What is relevant is the performance behind the offer and whether it matches actual needs.<\/p>\n<p>Server housing, often also <a href=\"https:\/\/gsweb.services\/en\/2026\/06\/28\/correctly-classifying-colocation-in-germany\/\">called colocation<\/a>, means: The company owns the hardware itself and rents space, power, network connectivity, and data center infrastructure for it. This creates control over the technology used while simultaneously relieving it of tasks such as air conditioning, access security, uninterrupted power supply, and network connectivity.<\/p>\n<h2>How much does server housing cost per month?<\/h2>\n<p>This question cannot be answered generally. Small housing solutions for a single server often start at around 60 to 150 euros net per month. A low base fee is useful if the required services are actually included. If information on power, SLAs, traffic, or service hours is missing, these points should be clarified concretely.<\/p>\n<p>Five questions are particularly telling:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How much power is available continuously and maximum per power supply?<\/li>\n<li>Are an A and B power supply possible and constructed independently?<\/li>\n<li>What bandwidth is guaranteed, and how are traffic peaks billed?<\/li>\n<li>What response times apply to incidents and remote hands requests?<\/li>\n<li>In which data center is the hardware located, and what security and data protection standards apply there?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A German data center can be a decisive advantage for many companies. Short distances, German-speaking contact persons, and an infrastructure that complies with German data protection requirements not only facilitate technical cooperation, but also coordination with customers, data protection officers, and internal departments.<\/p>\n<h2>When is colocation worth it compared to rented servers?<\/h2>\n<p>Server housing is particularly useful when you have your own hardware, require special configurations, or when regulatory and technical reasons dictate the operation of your own systems.
